THE OMNIPRESENT ALMIGHTY
He used to dutifully sit there everyday. That was his home. That was the only place where he used to get his food. Because many people who came there, to seek God, would generously give away something to eat.
He would sit there and look at the people with astonishment coming to and going from the place of worship. He would look at himself and the others sitting beside him, and would wonder why they (including himself) were condemned to such a fate. He further wondered who this God is. What did He/She look like? Why does He/She never come out of that building?
God is the One who fulfils what you ask – someone had told him.
God is the One whose experience leaves you in rapture, in an elated bliss – a person other than someone had told him.
Elated bliss? – Our man would ask.
Yes! Where you wish for nothing else; you feel you have got everything, there is nothing more required! You feel content. – He would get the explanation.
Wow!
How he wished they’d allow him into the sanctum sanctorum. He could have had a chance to talk to God and fulfill his prime desire – that of a sumptuous food. He kept gazing into the sky imagining of food. His train of thoughts got derailed when his stomach began to smart due to hunger.
It was not everyday that he would get to eat. Not many people looked at them. Some would run a pitiful look on them and would express their sympathy for these people in the rags. But these looks and feelings meant nothing to him. They could not quench the fire in his stomach.
Sitting at this place and waiting for someone to donate food had made him rather lazy and weak. Even when there were times when he did not get food for several days he would lie here in anticipation; as food was hard to get elsewhere, and moreover, there was physical strain involved here. Thus he waited there in hope, making the place his abode.
This week it had been the same old story. No food for about three days and he was losing hope. He thought he would not live any further to put a morsel in his mouth. There were few others too who were suffering the same fate as him. Suddenly, there was a buzz in the group. A wave of joy seemed to sweep across the faces of his comrades-in-hunger.
A rich man had come to worship and thank Almighty God for all good things the Supreme Being has showered upon him. And as a token of thanks to the Creator of All Things Living and Dead, the rich man was going to distribute food among the hungry mendicants gathered outside the entrance of the house of worship. After completing the rituals, the rich man gave away the food.
Our man, who was waiting for a grub since three days, would have jumped with joy had he got enough energy to do so. As the rich man approached him with the packet of food, his (seeker’s) hand began trembling with joy. With the food in his hand, the sight of it gave him immense delight and contentment, and he felt as if he had won the whole world.
This must be the elated bliss the man other than someone was talking about.
Yes! Indeed, I feel ecstatic, the rich man brought God out of that building for me.
Yes!! Today I have seen God; He has come to me every now and then. He has been around all the time!!!
At last, he had the appointment he had wished for with God!!
