WHAT FRIENDS ARE UP TO?
One fine evening in the desert, I was sitting on steps in front of my cabin. As I was sitting there I started thinking - I started thinking about friends we have. We grow up with friends and as kids what was that we were interested to know about our friends? Was it the toys that they had? Was it the dress that they wore? Was it the candies and sweets that they ate? I do not remember. But as we grew into high school we were interested what score and grades did they achieve. When we finished school we want to know what college and course our friends got, which city or town have they moved to. Then after we graduated we wonder what kind of job each one of us would end up with. Later, it feels so nice to know that everyone has a different kind of job, a different kind of role to play and are doing well in life. Then we wonder who will marry first, and then when friends begin to wed one after the other, we wonder who is next. Then we wonder who are going to get or who had got how many kids, how many boys and

how many girls. Then at mid-age we want to know how our friends are doing, how is the family doing and what his/her kids are doing. During old age we want to know what disease our friends are suffering with and then we wait to listen to the sad news of our friends departing. When one is old and has a small clique, and kids are staying away, if a friend dies that would hurt so much. That would remind the person about his/her kids and spouse, and he/she would wonder, “When will I?” (Sigh).

Well that is still long way for you and me, my friend. With three of our female classmates married and settled abroad and as the first male friend weds (must have wedded by the time I post this) I wonder who is next and wonder how many kids these married friends of ours have and will have. I wonder…when will I?
