THE THREE MAGIS
Different Churches have different name for the three magis.
Western Church: Balthasar from Arabia; Malchior from Persia and Gaspar from India.
[Gaspar is also Gandophares to whose palace the Apostle Thomas has arrived in India along with the merchant Abbanis to preach the word of God. Gandophares is the root of the words Gandhar (from where the mother of Kauravas, Gandhari, is) and Kandahar. The three Magis were supposed to be well versed in astrology and reading stars. There is also theory that the three Magis were Buddhist monks who had heard of an incarnation of Gautam Buddha named Jesus and had come to test the truth. The prevalence of Buddism in Kandahar and Gandophares could be a supporting factor to connection between Christianity and Buddism.]
Syrian Church: Larvandad, Gushnasaph and Hormisdas.
Eastern Churches and Ethiopian Churches: Hor, Karsudan and Basanater.
Armenians: Kagpha, Badadakharida and Badadilma
